Cynthia Costas Cohen, M.A., M.F.T. Born in Chicago, Cynthia Costas was educated at the Francis Parker School. Throughout high school and college she worked in a Blood Flow lab as a surgical assistant in the vascular division of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She went on to study pre-med at Mount Holyoke College and University of Colorado in Boulder. Moving to Los Angeles, she worked as a copyright expert for some of the city's most important litigators while she earned her masters in Clinical psychology at Antioch University during which time she interned at a juvenile detention center outside of Malibu. She opened her professional office in Beverly Hills California, and currently pro bonos at a community clinic in Los Angeles. Her's is a medical family. Her brother is a distinguished infectious disease specialist in Chicago and brother-in-law, operates over 50 emergency rooms across the country. Cynthia serves as a mental health consultant with both family members. Among Cynthia's specialties is EMDR, a trauma therapy which she studied under its originator, Dr Francine Shapiro. She is certified by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and studied under the tutelage of renowned hypnotherapists such as Dr. Michael Yapko and Dr. Jeffrey Zeig. In addition, Cynthia holds a completion certificate in TRM (trauma Resiliency Model) a somatic based approach to trauma and healing now used by the military. Her friendship as well as professional association with lifestyle and fitness expert, Jim Karas has lead to the creation of their book, "The 7-Day Energy Surge," a New York Times bestseller. |
